A room for people who do not share a working language
A supplier, a contractor, a group that has to agree on something. Everybody writes the language they think in, which is the language they are precise in.
Everybody reads their own
A room holds thirty-two people and each one picks what they read in, from seventy-two languages. Nobody meets in the middle in a language neither side is good at, which is where detail gets lost.
Messages arrive straight away and are translated a moment later, so nobody waits on a translation to see that something was said.
It stays where you left it
Keep the room with an account and it lives at the same link, with everything said in it, up to five thousand messages.
Anybody in it can be told when somebody replies, so it does not need watching.
Somebody joining late reads all of it
A person who arrives an hour in gets everything that was already said, in the language they picked, not just what happens after they walk in. Nobody has to be caught up by hand.
The same is true if you change what you read in halfway through. The history follows you into the new language rather than starting from there.
Checking a line that matters
Any message will show the original underneath it. On a date, a quantity or a price, that is the difference between trusting a translation and being able to check it.
Quantities are also checked for you. A translation that reads perfectly can still carry the wrong number, and that is the one mistake nobody catches by reading the sentence: fifteen pallets and fifty pallets are both a sensible thing to have written. Where the numbers in the translation and the numbers in the original disagree, the line says what was actually typed.
Everybody writing the language they think in is what makes this work. Two people meeting in a third language neither is good at is where the detail was being lost in the first place.
Finding what was agreed
A room that has run for a month is a room where the address, the order number and the date somebody promised are all somewhere above. Search it in the language you read, whatever language it was typed in, and the line comes back.
Anything you need at hand can be pinned to the top of the room instead, where it stays for everybody rather than scrolling away with the rest.
